With Scottish accommodation providers gearing up to reopen again in the future, Orkney-based Kirkwall Apartments thought it timely to give its website a refresh.
The previous Kirkwall Apartments website was no longer performing as well as it could have been. It wasn't optimised for mobile and it was difficult for team members to update or make changes to the site themselves. NB was tasked with creating a new content management system for the site, and giving the design and navigation of the site an update.
The client was keen to retain the existing site's booking system, so it was essential to make sure that this was clearly signposted acoss the website. The navigation was also simplified to make it clear that apartments were available to book at two different locations.
The design of the site was kept clean, simple and image-led with minimal copy. Comprehensive photo galleries guide users through the properties and clearly showcase what visitors can expect. Each property page also has a simple embedded map which contains a marker to show the exact location of the accommodation.
For new visitors to Orkney, there's also a handy Location tab which includes content on getting around Orkney, things to see and do, and amenities available in Kirkwall.
"Kirkwall Apartments is in the centre of Orkney's busy capital. The new website will help them to showcase their accommodation and sing the benefits of their location," says NB project manager Kylie Wood.
"The new content management system is easy for the client to use and they can now update and make changes to the site's content themselves. We're confident they'll be inundated with bookings once lockdown restrictions are lifted and visitors can return to Orkney again."
